LO4: Analysis of current trends.

This game is similar to the game app Zombies, Run! and Gun camera 3D and this is because they bth require the user to have a smartphone with a camera.

Zombies! Run.
Zombies! Run is a video game developed and published by six to start for iOS and android platform. It is an immersive running game where the players act as the main character Runner 5 through a series of missions. They have to run and listen to various audio narrations to uncover the story. Whilst the players are running they have to create supplies such as ammunition and medicine which can be used to expand their base.
The game was first released to the world on the 27th of February however it was only made available for iOS. The was the later made available for android. The was very successful on apples app store after it became the number 1 top grossing health and fitness app. Because of the nature of the game, the game was given the age rating of Pegi 12.

Gun Camera 3D.
This game is a realistic 3D gun simulator, this is similar to the game zombies run and that is because they both require the user to have a smartophone with a camera. This game allows you to view guns in 3D environment and from different angles. The user can also shoot anything that they can see on camera, there is no real objective for the game it seems like it was made so that you could just kill time. The one thing that is surprising about this game is that it has a lower age rating then the game zombies run, the age rating is Pegi 7. This game has been very successful on the android market as t has over 10 million downloads.

LO4: Production Plan.

LO4: Pitch Presentation

LO4: Expanding Game Ideas.

Game Idea 1

Description of game concept:
This is a real life simulation game that is similar to sims, it is called yourCHIOCE! You start with five different life choices to pick from and your player will develop in that category. Each category will provide your player a different skill and once your player gets to certain levels they will have opportunities to advance in different categorises.
Objective:
The main objective is to player the game until your character has died. Whatever category you pick will determine the lifestyle and environment that your character lives in.
Genre:
Life simulation.
Hardware:
I think that the most suited hardware for this game would be PC and this is because it would have a similar feel to sims however you would be in first person view and you can also interact with other people playing online. Another reason for this is that the controls are really simple for this game so there is no need for a game controller.
Target audience:
I would give this game a age rating of 16+ and this is because in some parts of the game there will be violence and some sexual references.
Social Grade:
ABC1
Competing games:
 Sims, sim city.

Game Idea 2.

Description of game:
This is a game the user can pick from a range of different planets that they can then develop life on, each planet has their own properties that will affect the way things grow on the planet. Once you have fully developed your planet you can move onto the next one, and you can also transfer supplies over from your first planet.
Objective:
The main objective of the game is to create an environment that is able to sustain life.
Genre:
This is a survival-strategy game.
Hardware:
I think that the best hardware for this game would be on the PC and this is because it is a game where you have to sit and wait for the most part of it as you watch the life grow. So while you have this game in the background you can do something else, however if this was one a console then a lot of people would be bored of waiting around for the lifeforms to develop with no other way of entertaining themselves.
Target audience:
I would give this game a age rating of 3+ and this is because there is nothing in this game that is controversial and it contains no violence, However I would say that for someone to understand the game they would have to be around the age of 15.
Social Grade:
ABC1
Competing games:
Sim city.

LO4: Game visuals.

This an idea of what I want the game to look like. The AI that you see in the first picture would move around based on your location and try to keep the user away from roads. The options menu would be the second picture where the user can change their route and scenario, it will also show the users progress.

LO3: Tomb Raider game review.

When the new reboot of tomb raider came out on Xbox 360 and Ps3 everyone had noticed the improvement in quality from all of the previous games especially in all of the cinematic scenes. So it came as a surprise when Square Enix had decided to release an improved version for the Xbox one and PS4 consoles.

But nonetheless, playing through the Definitive Edition on PlayStation 4 is excellent. The Xbox One can’t quite keep the frame rate up at 60fps, but I’ve been appreciating the difference. Tomb Raider is still one of the best of its genre, up there with the Uncharted series - but if you’re wondering whether this version is an improved experience beyond extra visual flair, the answer is: No, not enormously.
Realistic mud and sweat is not the next-gen revolution that gaming has been waiting for - but happily Tomb Raider doesn’t need extra special effects to make it worth playing.
One of the main reasons for rebooting the tomb raider series is for all of the people transferring over onto the next generation consoles, this game focuses on the younger Lara croft before she became a woman of action.
The Definitive Edition comes with all the DLC - though this isn’t as significant an addition as you might hope. The only significant single-player DLC is a single extra secret tomb, those little self-contained tributes to Tomb Raider’s puzzle-driven heritage. The rest of it is either superfluous weapon attachments or multiplayer maps and items, and sadly the multiplayer hasn’t magically gotten better over the course of the past year. It still isn’t worth much of anyone’s time.
One of the more interesting things that you can now do on the next generation consoles are the voice commands to aid you in the game.
You can say “show map” to pinpoint your location or name a weapon to equip it. The down side to this is that sometimes the Enemies shouts can trigger the voice commands and change what you are doing, this can also happen when you are in a party with your friends. Depending on the volume of the party other people can also trigger the voice commands.
These new control features and DLC don’t add anything to what was already a smooth, satisfying, genuinely thrilling action game, held together by an iconic, sympathetically written main character, fast-paced and varied combat. The opening hours of gameplay can be a little tough especially if you skip the cinematic scenes as the gameplay does relay heavily on them, but it’s all for the sake of setting up Lara’s character.
It really is all about Lara - she’s vulnerable here, but never disempowered, and never less than totally capable in the face of extreme danger. We see flashes of her genuine nerdy passion for archaeology, too, as she marvels over artefacts and ancient structures. As much as I love Tomb Raider as an action game, I miss it as an explorative puzzler; there’s not much actual tomb-raiding in this origin story, but the secret tombs hidden around the island show that Crystal Dynamics still has great talent for environmental puzzles. Hopefully there will be more of this in the sequel.

Each area of the island, from mountaintop village to forest to flotsam-littered beaches, is an adventure playground littered with hidden treasures, constructed for climbing and jumping and lateral thinking. The first time I played Tomb Raider, it was only when I went back to these areas without the story pushing me through them with a pistol in the small of my back that I appreciated how well designed they are. This time around I enjoyed it from the start, spending much more time exploring them for trinkets before moving on with the story’s agenda.
It really is stunningly beautiful, too, and even more so now. The Enhanced Edition gives you plenty of opportunities to admire the island from cliffsides, misty mountain outlooks, and precarious climbing ropes. The story, too, still has power the second time around, despite the weak supporting cast and not-entirely-welcome supernatural elements. Lara is strong enough to carry it.
Lara’s quick transformation into a hardened head-popping action heroine after her traumatic first kill still feels jarring, and marks the moment of Tomb Raider’s transition from survival game to all-out action. A few hours later, when you’re enjoying the full range of Lara’s weapons and combat techniques, it feels strange to remember that she goes through the first few hours of the game without a gun. But then, Tomb Raider is never afraid to change up the pace. You’re never in the same place doing the same thing twice, and that’s a large part of what makes it so memorable.

Final verdict.

The upstep in visual detail from the older console versions is a nice bonus, but Tomb Raider didn’t need massaging. It’s the same well-realised action reboot for Lara Croft that came as such a pleasant surprise last year. It’s still well-written, sympathetic, exciting, beautiful, and just incredibly well-made.

LO4 Target Audience.

The target audience for this game would be 15 - 25 years old, this is because some parts of the game does contain violence which would be suitable for anyone below that age range. Because of the type of game this is it is aimed at males, the scenarios in the game would mainly appeal to males however both genders would be able to play this.

Jack is 18 and he is studying computing at his local college, he wants to go on to study computer science at university and work his way into the games industry. When he is not studying Jakes spends most of his time coding for his friends or sometimes he plays on his PlayStation 4 with his older brother. Because he often gets bored of all the games he has he will often create his own through certain programming sites to kep himself entertained.

The target audience are ABC1's this is because or the user to get a hold of this game they would need a both a smartphone and a computer which can be quite pricey depending on the models you buy.
